With their natural harbors, bays, sheltered creeks, cliffs, reefs and wrecks, the possibilities are endless. With dive sites often just a stone’s throw away from each other, divers will be able to explore a variety of underwater worlds ranging from labyrinthine caves to reefs to both recent and wartime wrecks. Many of the dive sites around the Islands are accessible from shore which is ideal for those divers who prefer to be land based but there are also some world class sites that can only be accessed by boat. The standards of diving safety in the Maltese Islands are second to none! Hyperbaric facilities are never more than minutes away and are manned by highly qualified doctors extremely knowledgeable in diving medicine. Marine life flourishes in a vibrant display of colors. You are likely to come across groupers, gunards, octopi, red mullet, flying fish, corals, conger eels, and even the rare sea perch which has all but disappeared from the Mediterranean whilst other species such as the fish such as the John Dory come closer to shore in winter. Because of Malta and Gozo's central position, travel is easy, often just a short plane journey. And because of this geographical scenario and the mix of nationalities diving in Malta, many schools have multi lingual instructors to help to make it a perfect diving experience.
